This sunshine has been inspiring us lately to start getting back into the healthy lifestyle that we once had when it was about 20 degrees warmer. But things have been looking up ever since it started getting warmer here in Montreal and the sun has come back to greet us for a few mornings in a row now. Which brings me to writing this very short article about my favourite smoothie at the moment, that I make when I’m on the go but still want to get in my daily nutrients.

Benefits of a green smoothie:
  • Increased energy
By enhancing your nutrient absorption, your body becomes revitalized and energetic.
  • Boosts your immune system
Leafy greens are full of phytonutrients, which strengthen your immune system and keep you illness-free all year long.
  • Makes for healthier bones
Dark leafy greens are rich in Vitamin K and Calcium, and it’s important to consume calcium for it to reach your bones and not your tissues.
  • Glowing skin
Green vegetables are high in antioxidants, which is great for hydrated and wrinkle-free skin.
  • Increases heart health
Full of antioxidants like Vitamin A and C, the greens in smoothies can very much so lower cholesterol, reducing your risk of heart attacks and strokes.
  • Improves your digestion
The heavy amount of fibre in leafy greens, when consumed in a smoothie, will help you reach optimal digestibility.
What you will need:
1 handful of spinach
½ of a green apple
1 stem of kale (since the texture isn’t for everyone, once blended)
½ cup of frozen mangos
1 Tbsp. of chia seeds
½ cup of orange juice
½ cup of water
*Suggestion: Start with the liquids at the bottom of the blender so that everything blends a lot easier.
Once you blend all of the ingredients together, you can then pour the smoothie in a mason jar or any kind of glass to drink out of.
A little something extra to be well…extra with my smoothie is I’ll usually garnish the mason jar with a sliced strawberry on the rim, and I also like to add either more chia seeds or some coconut flakes on the top.
Voila! We hope that you guys enjoyed this article and if anyone of you recreate this smoothie recipe or try it out, make sure to tag us on our social media accounts so we can check them out!
Much love,
